VARSITY A moving mass ol' hlue and gold, the flash of shining instruments, over one hundred pairs of feet moving in precise rhythm, the stirring tempo of a march-all are synonymous with the appearance of the Ralph L. Fike Varsity Band at foothall games and in parades. hir. Raymond Bahelay, in his second year as hand director, continues to provide the excellent leadership, which together with hard work, produces a wonderful showing. Special emphasis on precision drill and marching resulted in many fine half-time shows and parade per- formances which paid oft with invitations to many spee cial events such as the iliarhoro Centennial and the Azalea liestival in Xvilmington. ilihe hand was tin, asked to greet Presidential Nominee, .Iohn F. Kennedy, when he arrived in Greenville during his campaign tour, and it took part in numerous parades and events, hoth in Yvilson and other towns.
