Spring is not here yet, but, as the book goes to press. fleacl Baseball Coach Gilbert Ferrell is looking forwarcl to that first clay of baseball praetice. The turnout this year shoulcl be good, although the team has lost six men through gracluation. Some of the veterans are: first base, Donnie hlattoxg shortstop, Carlton Barnesg outfielcl, .lerry Garter, Garlton Belantl, George Vlfainwright, Bobby Langley, Steve Sakas, lames Matthews, Howarcl Eclwarclsg catchers, Ken Boykin and George Massey. Some of the juniors coming up this year, such as Rogers, Elliot, ancl Shackleforcl are going to be great competition for some of the veterans. Last yearls reeorcl was very goocl, with ten wins ancl two losses. ilhey beat VVilmington for the first time in four years. The team went to the State AAAA Conference game but lost to East Mecklenburg 3-2. This year looks even better than last year anal with goocl team work, the boys coultl go all the way. They have added mueh eolor and liveliness to the appearance of our hand. This past summer the majorettes could he seen at the Greenville Band and hilajorette Camp. The new routines and lundainentals that they learned helped give our majorette eorps an excellent variety of entertainment this year. lhe result ol' Majorette Camp and long hard hours ol' praetiee could he seen as these eight high stepping girls perlorined with agile precision at various lunetions of the hand. The inajorettes with their eolorliul dress uniforms ol' hlue and white or their Christmas ones ol' red and white added inueh to the enjoyment of the erowd and the exeitelnent of the season. fi Ji ,A
