fl wwi, mr .-. The main purpose of the Future Homemakers of America is to prepare young girls for their responsibilities as future homemakers. Fl'hroughout the year, speakers come to give advice on such personal subjects as good grooming, social graces, personality development, and subjects pertaining to home and garden improvement, llaving a winning booth at the county fair, at which a money prize was given, and selling Christmas cards furnished the income for this year. ln September activities began with a county rally and picnic at the Rock Ridge lligh School. Judy Wocid, a junior in our school, was at that time installed as a county officer. Next on the agenda was the district meeting in Goldsboro at which ludy Cubberley was elected State Secretary. These elections brought wide acclaim to the two girls, the Pike lligh Chapter of the FI IA., and also to the school. At an installation banquet, Alice Shepard was made president: Sue Forbes, viceepresidentg ludy Cubberley, secretaryg Eleanor Temple, treasurcrg Shirley Stokes, his- toriang Janie Bostick, songeleaderg and Mary Thomas, ref porter. At the annual Mother-Daughter banquet, lXrlrs. Mildred Bullard, the adviser, let the girls prepare the banquet. There are approximately one hundred thirty interested members, who come from the sophomore, junior and sen- ior classes. liz. rm assenzldjf progrmzz, tlze F.H.fl. prouzotes good will.
