Several gluttons for punishment even attempted the Wash- ington lVlonument, and one senior learned hy heart the reeording in the elevator. This is the Washington lVlonument. erected in .... N All the hardened hearts melted at the sight of the illuminated statues of l,ineoln and Jefferson, rising in the crisp night air. And the Tomlr of the Lvnlanown Soldier with its stoie Honor Guard made almost as niueh of a solemn impression on us as the hundreds of rows of little white crosses ..... We topped it all off with Mount Vernon, where everyone hought a little plant heeause Gene recommended them. and lunch at the National Airport. There we almost lost a few memhers of our group. who gave in. however. and settled forthe traine-and lou r more hours of hridge. And one day a few younger Formers could he seen walking around the traela arm in arm. and there was a new fresh scent in the air. Spring had hnally eome. As the seniors turned light-headed and sentimental and the juniors east furtive glanees at exams and eollege applications. preparations were made for the last dance.
