Nlention will be made of the great teams, and perhaps of some not so great, which played for lficldston. But when in turn the team of roi' is spoken of, a sudden hush will oycreome the assemblage and we will sit, our faces betraying unyoiced emotions. And in that moment of extreme silence, one only shall there be among them to stand up and say, VVhy so quiet? 'l'hat was a great team. 'l'he startled faces will turn toward him, with ncryes of steel, heart of flint, blood of courage. he will contiimc, 'l'hat's right, we had a real team. Oh, I know as well as you that our record was no source of joy, not to our wouldfbe-proud parents certainly, but the list of scores docsn't tell the whole story. XYe were young and inexperienced, we fumbled and made mistakes. but as the season grew older, so did we, and we corrected them. 'l'here was no star to point to and say, Al le was the bcstf We had a team, and with time we proved it. Ionny began to catch at Daycroft and from Brunswick on, Xlike and Large Bruno began opening lanes for him. Glenn must have made a bet with VValtcrg in the Barnard game, spectators couldn't tell them apart eyen with a scorecard, ' neither slowed down enough to be seen.
