Many people have long felt that Fieldston, with all its advantages. did not oiifer its members enough chance to get to know each other rcallv well. Thev had no chance to meet outsiders, .Xt the same time students were not coming in contact with the subjects they studied, and so regarded the things they learned as abstractions rather than realities. To overcome this lack, a program of field trips was founded. and later we helped organize then Inter-School Congress. The February vacation was the time for the widest assortment of field trips. The Seniors made their annual invasion of XVashington, while after- noon trips to various points of interest were offered to the top three l orms. These included trips to a Co-op, the Medical Center, to a Spanish restau- rant and movie, and several others. For the hardier souls, weekends were set aside for work trips to the various settlement camps with which the school is connected. The work was done quickly, and moderately well, but not without mis- hap in some eases. Nevertheless, there was ample time for enjoyment. In addition to these trips, a new plan was adopt- ed, whereby the top tive Forms spent a weekend each at Hudson Guild. These trips were a com- bination of a little work, more fun, and a lot of living together-and hay fever. Through the Inter-School Congress we found a chance to share and exchange talents and ideas with other schools in the eitv. There were assemblv exchanges and an art exhibit which made the rounds of all the member schools. The Drama XYorkshop presented Kind Lady, and the games between the schools provided still another chance for students of ditterent schools to meet. Along with the usual dances, this vear saw the birth of an Inter-School News to help all the members of all the schools to know those of other schools, even if they were not united bv some common interest.
