GUIDANCE, LIBRARY, AND D.E. ROUND OUT THE SCHOOL PROGRAM Guidance to be of value must have the co- operation of the entire school staff. The guidance c ou n s el o r has to do with group counseling, individual counseling, testing program, student-W i t hd r aw als, college scholarships, vocational preparation, sched- ule planning, follow-up studies, conferences with parents, and citizenship training. The philosophy of the Guidance Department is as follows: CU Teachers to do effective teaching must teach faith in worth-while things. f2J Parents and teachers must help in setting standards for youth to live by. C35 Students must have instilled within them the idea that the best discipline is that which comes from within and not that which is im- posed from without. The library as a center for materials for inform- ation, recreation and inspiration is the heart of the learning activities of the school. Skill in the use of library tools such as the card catalog, Readers' Guide, and the various indexes which are keys to the mater- ials found in the library make the library more valu- able. kia. Distributive Education is vocational education for those engaged in the distribution of goods andfor ser- vices. The students receive classroom instructions as well as on-the-job training. This program offers many opportunities to students in the field of distri- bution. The program prepares students for an occu- pation before graduation.
