LCOKING BACK At the first of September of '55 Sixty eighth graders were quite alive, As the class of '59 entered high school that year, So they tell me, I wasn't here! Looking back the memories are crystalline clear. Say the honorable seniors as graduation draws near. We were apprehensive that first year, and hopeful, too, As to what unknown course that the years would pursue After being confused and getting all turned around, The eighth grade was over just as we settled down. We returned as freshmen with plenty of pep, Determined that with any class we'd keep in step. New subjects like algebra and Latin we met, The challenge of which caused us sometimes to fret. As sophomores we musn't forget to note, We captured first place with our Homecoming float. And among other events we must not overlook, 'Day-O' was a song that went down in the books. As juniors, our responsibility we did not shirk, We labored on the Prom and had fun while we worked. That year we again rode the victory boat, By winning once more with our Homecoming float. Judith and Floyd represented our class At Girls and Boys' State in the summer just past. We sponsored the bloodmobile, the quota to reach. Donors aplenty were secured by each. We're the first to include underclassmen on the annual We're sure future seniors this idea will not chaff. In literary ability our class does not lack. staff Participants in such contests deserve a pat on the back. Carol Fay and Evelyn starred in the one-act play, And the cheers of the audience remains to this day. As the recipient of the Betty Crocker Homemakers' Aw To a home of her own Wanda Hutchens looks forward. Of beauty and queens our class has no lack. Their honors must certainly total quite a large stack! Lovely Pat and Jo Ann honors did glean, And Junie was voted Homecoming Queen. As Harvest Queen, Peggy Spencer did reign, And Homecoming King Stovall got his share of fame! Sadly now the seniors go their separate ways. We've come to the end of our high school days! Just then comes a rap and the future peers in. This is only the beginning, says he, not the end! - -Anonymous 24 ard,
