Among the This year's Field Kindley Ban was y many services the band performed was the providing of music for pep assemblies, athletic contests, and partici- pating in various civic parades. An annual event in which the band participated was the SEK Band Festival held at Independence this year. One of the highlights of the year was the band's participance in Kindley Kavalkade. The band was featured in the show's finale and this was the first time that they have ever been used. Ensembles and soloists from the band entered the spring music contests. The district contest was held at Pittsburg and the state at Emporia. QNot pictured - Fiona Gillete.j Orchestra This year's 40-piece orchestra met fourth hour, five days a week and was under the direction of Mr. Harvey Lewis, instrumental instructor. Activities in which the orchestra participated were Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter Assemblies, Junior and Senior Playsg and the SEK Orchestra Festival held this year at Chanute. Ensembles and soloists from the orchestra entered' the district music contests at Pitts- burg. Those that received one ratings went on to Emporia to the State music contests. There were several members from the orchestra that participated in Kindley Kavalkade in the Kavalkade Orchestra. There was also a select group that furnished dinner music for various organizations at banquets and receptions. The orchestras' concert master this year was violinist Bob Tyrell.
