People Who Make Excuses. Homeworkaphobia! Homework, a word almost as bad as pop quiz,” is one of the oldest forms of student abuse known to man and teachers. When a student has reached his high school years, he can usually detect the symptoms of an upcoming homework assignment by his teachers' actions. These are some sure signs: I. The teacher asks, Are you sure you understand 2. The teacher is in an unusually cheerful mood. 3. The teacher explains the same problem six or seven times, when no one has even asked him to do so. 4. One accidentally finds a list on the teacher’s desk reminding him to tell the students to do pages 201 525 and problems 1-950 by first hour the next day. If you are the type of student who has better things to do (like clip your toenails), the following list of excuses was compiled especially for you. 1. My dog (or cat) did a 2 on it, and I’m waiting for it to dry. 2. We ran out of toilet paper. 3. Our furnace broke down, and we had to bum it. 4. My sister lined her bird cage with it. 5.
