Sophomores Juniors Seniors Sports Academics Ads Senior Directory AI n  ⢠' Index Cruisinâ Time Honk-Honk! âHey Babe!â âWhat a fox!â Those are the most common things heard on Friday or Saturday night when high school students cruise down Main. The usual course is to grab a Coke at McDonaldâs, cruise up through Main Street, make a turn-around at Majik Market and then cruise through again. Then, you end up at McDonaldâs and you start over again! If you see someone who catches your eye, you can always meet him at Goodyear and see what happens from there! When cruising Main Street, one should follow the rules. The ten Commandments of cruising are: 1. Never go faster than 1 mile an hour. 2. No windshield wipers! (no matter how hard itâs raining) 3. Never take your little sister. 4. Donât wave at 65 year-old men. 5. Donât yell out the window near Comtrea. 6. Never cruise in a station wagon. 7. If theyâre cute yell back, if not, say, âDrop dead!â 8. Always play your radio at full volume. 9. Never listen to A.M. or KEZK with your window down. 10. Communication is the name of the game. We all need to relate one way or another to those around us. Students learn how to communicate through speech, drama, writing, and reading. Each of these is a part of our daily lives. Whether we ever stand behind a podium or not, we must learn how to speak and make ourselves heard. We might not all be actresses or actors, but we can learn to communicate with our hands, faces, and other body features. Writing correctly is essential in our busy world as we learn every day. Reading is also a big part of our lives. We are faced with signs, books, and letters to read. Communication is life. We cannot have one without the other. History students learn not only about the past but also about the future. They see our mistakes from the past and seek ways to change the present and shape our future. Students in school learn from books, lectures, and films. History students learn to be aware of what goes on around them, hoping that someday they will be able to change the future from what theyâve learned. Go West, young man. Who voted for him? Problems â who us? 124 Students Did you say long or short? Is this where it goes? Prepare For Future. Prepare, according to Websterâs Dictionary, means to make ready. You might ask, âTo make ready for what?â For our students it is to make them ready for future careers. As students get closer to that graduation date, whether just as sophomores or seniors, they begin to ponder, âWhat will I do after graduation?â âCan 1 do anything?â Anyone can do anything; he just has to learn. In Practical Arts classes students learn a few of the many careers that our society offers. They learn skills of business jobs. So, learning in classes can help a student learn where some of his abilities lie â abilities that can later turn into serious interests and then careers. 125 Creative Minds At Work COURSE OFFERINGS Art 1 Art II Arts Ceramics I Ceramics II And lo, man was created Take a look at this masterpiece! Fine Arts students learn to express themselves by either making music or an art project, depending on what class they may have chosen. They put a part of themselves into their work. Students learn not only to play music but also interpret and feel it. Paintings do not just hang on the wall; they are painted to speak out and reach the viewers in some way. A feeling of pride and satisfaction overwhelms the student when he has accomplished his goal. From all that hard work and concentration he learns not only that he can make music or a painting or an artistic project but also that he can do anything with effort. Home Ec classes and Industrial Arts classes are taken by both boys and girls. What goes on in these classes? The students learn not only how to perform the assignments they are given, but they learn also how to handle the responsibilities that members of the other sex usually have to deal with alone. Cooperative Occupational Education, or as it is known to students - C.O.E., is a class that allows students to explore the possibilities of various careers. In the classroom students learn different aspects of what will be expected from them by their employers. However, what could be better than on-the-job training? Students are allowed to experience real-life situations on the job everyday. They leave school after fourth hour, 11:35 - 12:50, and report to work. While on the job, students become acquainted with work habits and skills that are needed to fulfill job requirements. As in all jobs, responsibility is required.
