and Finishes Senior Activities The twins, Joy and Joyce Gansner, set the pace for the 1965 crowning. The couples entered and bowed in pairs. The scene of the thirty-eighth annual Tiger Crowning was the Ralph B. Tynes Gymnasium, Monday evening, March 1. The royal affair was preceded by the spring-summer style show, presented by Mrs. Elsie Wampler. Climaxing the evening was the Tiger Crowning. Ten girls and ten boys composed the Royal Court for the retiring king, John Davis, and the retiring queen, Bobette Hughes. One lady-in-waiting and one male successor were in the dark as to their oncoming reign. The commentator for the crowning was Diane Carrow. As tension grew among the crowd and candidates, Diane carried the ball with a calm tone. As the prospective queens entered the court, they were presented beautiful bouquets from Fults Florists by the flower girls, Janet Lucas and Anita McCormack. Finally the big moment arrived. The time had come to reveal the names of the Tiger King and Queen. Every- one was silent, everything was quiet except the rattling of the envelopes being opened by Diane. Then, she said, The 1965 Tiger King is Nick Borusiewich. Nick took John's place on the royal throne and the crowner, Claudia Althauser, crowned him. King Nick. Then Diane announced, The 1965 Tiger Queen is Sherry Scott. A scream was heard and Sherry cried. She took her place on the royal throne beside Nick, and Bobette bowed graciously to Sherry. John Summers placed Sherry's crown upon her head. Then Gerald Chappue took numerous pictures to insure a lasting remembrance. Gifts were given to the King and queen by Smiths Jewelers of Festus. Sherry received a necklace with a miniature Festus ring suspended from a tiny gold chain. The ring has drawn many admiring looks. Nick received a tie clasp of the same nature. Both looked happy with their new titles. King Nick and Queen Sherry.
