The Spirit of High School FOREWORD The Great Spirit—first used as our school emblem in the 1936 Piper, the original FHS annual—signifies the challenge of the future. When the Tiger mascot was chosen in 1946, the Spirit was retained, and has become an important element of FHS tradition. Since the Great Spirit is the emblem of our school, we have chosen the Indian, whose dignity and picturesquenss represent the freedom and democracy of America, for the cover of this edition of the Tiger. We hope this book will be a tribute to the administration, faculty, and students that have made our school the wonderful institution that it is. It is hoped that in future years this Tiger will be a testimonial REFLECTING the achievements and aspirations of the people who have made our alma mater great. DEDICATION The staff respectfully wishes to dedicate the 1965 Tiger to the Board of Education. These dedicated men, through their unceasing efforts, have given us a beautiful school of which we, the students, and the entire community may be justly proud; and have provided an educational atmosphere designed to prepare us for our future endeavors and to give us a richer and fuller outlook on life.
