SPANISH CLUB PIN POINTS SPANISH CULTURE The Spanish Club is under the direction of Mrs. Manley and consists of twenty-seven Spanish students. Their meetings are held every other Friday during Spanish Class. They sponsored a Pep Assembly and a Pep Week this year. LEARNS TO MAKE A HOUSE A HOME To join the F.H.A. you must have had one year of homemaking or be enrolled in homemaking. This year they had a very active year. FESTUS ENTERS PLANNED PROGRESS COMPETITION Festus High participated in Union Electric's Planned Progress Contest. Our planned progress team was divided into five committees. Each was concerned with putting the city’s land to use for the community. Mike McNeil headed the streets committee. Deanna Akins, Vic Uding, and Marty Gebhart served on this committee. Paul Ogle, Carol Drury, and Ron Politte worked with Glen Wright’s Recreation Committee. Mildred Lovelace was chairman over the Industry committee with Paul DeClue, John Siebert and Ellen Porter as helpers. School problems were tackled by Neal McCreary and his committee consisting of Harry Shapiro, Randy LeGrand and Carol Cage. Carol Abenathy was head of the Sanitation Committee. Her workers were Pam Thomure, Dave McClain, and Phil Gove-ro. Each committee submitted his solutions at the County Planned Progress meeting held at the Festus Elementary School in Hartshorn Acres.
