unior- Senior rom Climaxing the social season of Festus High School, the annual Iunior- Senior Prom was held on Friday, May 4. Again this year it was an open prom and a large number of outside guests were invited by the students. Members of the school board and faculty were also present. Before entering the building, guests knew that something special was taking place at Festus High School. The entrance had been transformed by a large canopy and a snappy doorman, and visitors soon knew they were entering the famed Stork Club. The prom and banquet were again combined and guests first made their way to the dining salon where the world's best chefs-the Iunior Mothers--served a wonderful dinner. Spring flowers and candles decorated the tables and other decorations carried out the black and pink color scheme chosen for the prom. As all entered the ballroom they were greeted by the strains of the en- chanting music of Herb Mahler's orchestra. For at least one night the gym was transformed into the Stork Club. Pink paneled walls were decorated with black silhouettes of dancing couples, flanked on either side by top hats and corsages. Favors were cocktail napkins telling the year and occasion, and dance programs repeated the silhouette of the dancing couple. Sopho- more girls, wearing the traditional cigarette girl costumes, served as wait- resses and a floor show featuring top entertainers of stage, screen, radio and television was presented to the delight ot the audience. All arrangements and decorations for the prom were planned and carried out by members of the junior class, under the direction of Mrs. George Morris, Miss Lucile Holmes, Mr. Iohn Clippard, and Miss Betty Io Rauh, junior class sponsors. The seniors will always remember their last prom at F.H.S. as one of the best ever. To be commended for their work are the juniors and their sponsors, the Iunior Mothers, and all who helped to make the prom a wonderful evening at the Stork Club.
