Sometimes life is peaceful and quiet, but at other times it is dark and gray. We learn about ourselves and the world as we each go down our own roads. All roads lead to a world of new people and friends. Each road will take us through new experiences, preparing us to live and work in the global village. We have been given the chance to look down these roads through our ‘Insight’ programs and ‘‘Project Quill’, both of which offer alternative directions our lives may take. The solar winds blow, bringing to us their glow of light and heat. The rain falls giving us life and providing streams for all to enjoy. We find the world about us full of great and gentle beauty. In our communities, we find this same beauty. Each person becomes his or her own different shade of emotion, coming together to seek the good in our neighbors and to learn from one another. When we meet with each other, the different shades of emotion blend and form that beautiful creation we call mankind. Just as the sun rises or the streams flow, mankind moves together, reaching toward the global village. As individuals, we are given the chance to decide which roads we will travel. We are free to make our own decisions, but we must remember that there are those in other parts of the world that do not share our freedom. Even though we find these people different, we must remember that they are a vital part of our global village. For without different ideas and cultures to stimulate us, we could not appreciate the freedom we enjoy. We can be ourselves, as well as a part of the community. To What Do I Owe To what do I owe this honor This honor that makes me glow To what do | owe this pleasure This music moves me so To what do | owe my attention The attention that makes me grow To what do I owe to friends Those that | care for so To what do I owe To what do I owe - Bill Thomas 11 AS herenean ogee aieimmentante seroowmemmeerm ange REACH OUT Reach out to win Reach out to go Reach out to capture Reach out to grow Reach out — Bill Thomas 13 14 ae Hurry up! You're late! I’ve got a paper due today! How many times have we all heard these statements? Day after day, week after week, we sit in class and absorb mountains of information to prepare us for our individual place in the global village. ATEY Spt Ef pL lreAt z 15 ey ae : “err? Good times and bad help friends to grow, Love between them takes time to flow. Difference adds to the color of their relationship, As does likeness add to the flavor of their fellowship. Friends go on as time passes by for in this type of fellowship their happiness never dies. Friends bond in their own special ways, For I say again these types of friends remain forever and a day. First year member Connie Pergerson set a first by always taking the top spot in every individual event that she swam, including four at Regionals. For the men’s team, the first was participation in the NJCAA National Swim Meet in Florida. Leon Hodge, Jesse Riggan, Jeff Nesbitt, and Jim Goode spent the first week of March at IRCC’s outdoor pool.
