Ferruxn College, like everywhere else in America, is proud of the United States' accomplishments. This college, formed in 1913, has done much to aid in the de- velopment of Virginia. Reflections of a Year Gone by 1976 was a year in which reflections played an integral part of daily life. The United States looked back upon her first two hundred years of greatness with much respect for the people and the events that shaped our lives. Slogans urging people to take an active part in All1Cl'iCZl,S Bicentennial celebration were everywhere. Committees of all kinds were formed to insure that America's two hundredth birthday celebration would be the best possible. Special events and performances helped us to look back and relive our past. Reflections of a two-hundred year period were easier for us than reliving a one year period at Ferrlml College.

Bishop Kenneth Goodson, speaking at the winter convocation, reflected upon a problem that the Bi- centennial celebration could create. Bishop Goodson commented that People get so caught up in celebrating that they forget what it is they are celebratingf' He then appealed for a sincere celebra- tion of America's founding. We at Ferrum will look back upon 1975 and 1976 in our separate ways at the Bicentennial celebration. True, by living, we look back to the co1mtry's past, but what about each individua1's past? The events from 1776 until now have done much to influence our lives, but living one year at college has shaped our future far more. ll ,,,' , ,, ,M M-lalgql , lil lil llll llll lll 1 wwf M li 1. tw' 1 , l lat
