The group toured Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in depth, including the cities of Oslo, Bergen, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. Norway proved to be the most beautiful country in the world as the group explored it by ex- citing trips on ferry and hydrofoil and by bus into the gorgeous Uord country and land of the midnight sun. The group included alumni trustees, faculty, and former Ferrum Abroad Tour members. Mrs. C. Ralph Arthur accompanied this group and directed all three tours. M uv -...:,.. .Li 4.1 fl - , A,-.144 ilmwu .ff t- 1 41 5 ,I LUTON STUDY PROGRANl For two weeks this past summer, twenty-six persons participated in Ferrum Col- lege's first Luton Study Program . This program was held at the Luton Industrial College. Luton, England The college, established by the Home Missions Department of the British Methodist Church, offers training for both ministers and laymen. The college operates from September to July each yean offering a number of seminars and short courses that deal with the role of the church in an industrial-technological society. The Ferrum program received a sampling of the courses that are offered. There were lecturers from British schools and universities, and leaders from both labor and management within some of Britain 's leading industries. The study program concluded with a short continental tour, including attendance ofthe world famous Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany. 18

If , - 3' sf, K f ' 1 .iff 1' f 1 'Q 1970 STUDY GROUP Ferrum Abroad 1.970 witnessed the spectacle of the decade in the Passion Play presented in Oberammagau, Germany. Thirty-three participants, led by Professor and Mrs. James A. Davis, toured seven countries, including visits to Amsterdam, Cologne, Heidelberg, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, Munich, Rome, Florence, Nice, Grenoble, Geneva, Paris, and Lon- don. Added attractions included the Isle of Capri relaxed visits to the Italian and French Riverias, and dinner excursions to Tivoli and Grenzing. This study tour enabled the students to obtain six hours of college credit by attending seminars and completing reading assignments on selected topics in European history. culture, and politics. 17
