We bask in reflected glory when we see the great changes and advancements that have turned Ferrum College into what it is today. We look around us and see a campus that at one time consisted of five ma- jor buildings, but which in a short period of time has seen the addition of many new and beautiful struc- tures. Add to this growth enumerable landscaping and beautification projects and we view the campus that we are so justly proud of today. What we see did not happen overnight. The rising of our new modernistic campus is the result of years of planning, working, and visioning -- visioning on the part of our President and others. But visions are fantasies without the man to put them into brick and mortar form. We remember with great admiration the spring of 1955 when you came, at the request of our Presi- dent, to help him raise our college from the final hours that seemed to be engulfing it. We recall the many occasions that you have given of your time and personal resources so that the dream of a beautifully built Christian college could be realized. Because we know that behind the beautiful lies a man who did much toward building its foundations, because we see in you those great and admirable traits of Christian dedication, love, generosity and hu- mility, because you are unsurpassed in wit, sly sayings and clever remarks which bring a smile to every lip andawarmth to the coldest hearty because we wish to honor a man who has built from dreams in blue- print, who has devoted 12 years of his life to our college, we dedicate the 1966 BEACON to you MR.
