THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT Mr. Magill, Charles Robertson, Mr. Thompson, Carthy Whorley, Hudnall Baldwin, Linda Vierbuchen, Miss Pryor, Julia Holland, Mr. Warlick, Charles Strobel, Ray H Sheppard, Don Jennings. . The Student Government of Ferrum Junior College is a relatively new organization. It was established in 1955, and since that time has'been steadily progressing. Its purpose is basically that of promoting the general welfare of the students and upholding the high Christian ideals of the college. This is accomplished through the establishment ofa keen sense of loyalty and honor among the students. The Student Council of this organization is composed of nine members, the major ones being a president, vice-president, and a secretary-treasurer. Serving on the council with these three officers is a representative from each class, a representative from each dormitory, a day stud- ent representative, and the editor of the Student Handbook. In addition there is an advisory committee consisting of three faculty members nominated by the council and appointed by the Dean of the College. The three major officers of the organi - zation, together with this advisory committee and the Dean, constitute the Executive Council. In cases of emergency when it is not possible for the Student Council to act, the Executive Council has the authority to do so. Judicial authority is exercised bythe Student Council whenever a violation of the Honor Code occurs. Such acts as lying, cheating, stealing, and failure to report a breach of honor are con- sidered violations of the Honor System, Our Student Government Association is aseli-governing o r g anization which , attempts to develop high character and the ability of the student to accept responsi- ' bility both individually and collectively. Pres. of Student Body. . . . Ray Sheppard Sec.-Treas . . . . . . . . Charles Strobel Vice Pres. . . . . . . . . Don Jennings
