College Sophomore Class For us a dream came true when we entered Ferrum in '49, We began as the largest fresh- man class in the history of the school. All the way has not been easy, but we have learned that 'Cevery dark cloud has a silver lining and we have striven to endure until the lining was revealed. Although many have dropped by the way and some new faces have appeared, we are proud of the record we have made as freshmen and as sophomores. With us are six ministerial students and fourteen Life Service Band mem- bers who have helped us- uphold our ideals and to do our very best. FRONT: Burkett, Scztterjield, Mfr. fohnron, Via BACK: Mcddfn, Powell, Perkinr 9312 lie As sophomores we have carried on under the leadership of Robinson H. McAden, presi- dent, Joseph D. Perkins, vice president, Eunice Via, secretary-treasurer, Elise Satter- field, reporter, Sammie Burkett and Phillip E. Powell, student government representatives, and Mrs. Ethel M. Johnson, class sponsor. Everyone was busy as we successfully planned the Christmas Banquet, developing the theme, Peace on Earth, in the decora- tions and in the program. It was our privilege to have with us Dr. B. M. Beckham, founder of the college. He gave us an inspiring message on the Meaning of Christmas. We sponsored the annual beauty pageant on February I4, presented a chapel pro- gram March 85 and we expect to have an outing before the year is over. ' As We move forward to re- ceive our honors, we are con- scious that our goal has been reached but that we must keep striving for higher ones. Min- gled with our feeling of joy of accomplishment will be tears of sorrow, for We know that our paths will part and that the hours We've shared will soon be but memories. Regardless of the pain of leaving behind dear friends, we step forth proudly to accept the challenge that the world holds for us today.
