The Winter Carnival receives statewide coverage through Michigan Outdoors cameras. L This year found the men of Theta Xi Fraternity spon- soring their sixth annual Winter Carnival. The theme was The World of Science Fiction which was selected by the men of the fraternity. Close to 3,000 visitors attended the weekend affair held on the Ferris campus. Included were various winter games, huge snow statutes, and dances. Both Ferris and the student body were presented to the state of Michigan through such television programs as Michigan Outdoors in Detroit and sports programs in Cadillac. Newspaper coverage came from the Detroit Free Press, The Grand Rapids Press, Cadillac News, and Big Rapids Pioneer. This year, for the first time in the history of the carnival, runner-up trophies were given to the organi- zations in the various divisions and an over all trophy for the best statute on campus was presented. The winner of this year's over-all trophy was Brophy Hall.
