The Ferris High School Orchestral Society is a pioneer organization in our school. It dates back to Dickinson Annex days-there were only twelve inexperienced players then. Now we have an organization of Fine musicians of which we are proud. They played at Dickinson Evening High School commencements, at our plays, and they will play at our commencement. Our orchestra, under the guidance of Mr. Schwartz, is pledged to the finest ideals of the musical art. It endeavors to blaze a trail of musical culture in our school. Walter Wodjewodski, our concert master, is quite a talented artist himself. His accomplishments, which are many, range from the playing of stringed instruments to the blowing of wind instruments. It is said also that he will be the twirler for our school band next season. The members will not be content until every student in Ferris who knows how to play an instrument, becomes a member of their organization. DEBATING SOCIETY Debating is ones best training for a successful life. When our members graduate and enter the outside world, they will profit from the training which they have received in our organization. In years to come they will travel far ahead in life, and, looking back, they will say that the Debating Society of Ferris High School was responsible for much of their success. Soon after our school was opened, the students who were interested in debate, public speaking, and parliamentary law, gathered together and formed the Senior Debating Society, with Mrs. Pinkham as their faculty adviser. Last year we debated Dickinson and Henry Snyder High Schools. This year we have arranged for a triangular debate among Ferris, Emerson and Dickinson, which will take place in February.
