Page Forty-four F ERRIS BAND Hail to our newly organized band! It has at the present, twenty-three uniformed members and has contributed its tuneful and inspiring melodies to many of our athletic events. This organization has proved itself to be the possessor of enduring patience and faith- fulness. During the summer vacation, the members came to school once a week to prac- tice in order that Ferris might have a band of which it could be proud. Truly, we are proud of this organization. In spite of all the hardships which it has confronted, the band is now greeted as one of the most flourishing and most deserving organizations of the school. No praise is too great for the director, Mr. Schwartz, who has frequently sacrificed his time for us. Vacancies are open in the band, to all students who are interested. We look for- ward to a larger, even more flourishing band in the near future. Drum Major ................................................................ The Ferris High School Orchestral Society is a pioneer organization in our school. It dates back to Dickinson Annex days-there were only twelve inexperienced players then. Now we have an organization of Fine musicians of which we are proud. They played at Dickinson Evening High School commencements, at our plays, and they will play at our commencement. Our orchestra, under the guidance of Mr. Schwartz, is pledged to the finest ideals of the musical art. It endeavors to blaze a trail of musical culture in our school. Walter Wodjewodski, our concert master, is quite a talented artist himself. His accomplishments, which are many, range from the playing of stringed instruments to the blowing of wind instruments. It is said also that he will be the twirler for our school band next season. The members will not be content until every student in Ferris who knows how to play an instrument, becomes a member of their organization.
