OUR SCHOOL Dunbar High School IS located 1n Ferl-1s Texas Elhs County eighteen miles south of Dallas on h1ghway 75 Dunbar High consists of one main frame bu1ld1ng and a lunch room with a seat ing capac1ty of approximately ZOO In the main building there are fourteen rooms and the pr1nc1pal s office Aud1tor1um fac1l1t1es are made available by sl1d1ng port able walls that form four classrooms The buildmg was constructed in 1940 under superv1s1on of the Work Project Adm1n1strat1on and conforms to all spec1f1cat1ons and standards set up for schools and communitles of 1tS s1ze and population A flower garden shrubbery grass trees and the conventional flag pole adds beauty to the SQ acre tract that composes the campus The school has adequate and standard heating light and vent1lat1on faC1l1t1eS The bu1ld1ng 15 heated with gas and each room 1S equipped w1th modern heaters Water 15 furnished by the Clty and two concrete fountams with four dr1nk1ng faucets supply water for both teachers and students in most departments The school 1S also equipped w1th an mter commun1cat1on system with a receiver in each of the fourteen rooms The school stresses the use of v1sua1 aid and has a 16mm projector We have a full time Homemakmg Department Wh1Ch 1S accredlted and aff111ated with the N H A The school has a standard curr1cu1um W1th the addition of typing shorthand driver educat1on and a full t1me health and physical educat1on teacher Extra curricula activities consists of dramat1cs D Club choral club b1g bro ther and b1g sister clubs and basketball The faculty conslsts of seventeen teachers all hold1ng degrees from recognized colleges and universlties The school IS admmistered by Mrs Lucy Mae McDonald who has served as pru1c1pal seven years She holds a M S degree from Pra1r1e Vlew A 81 M College The school is accred1ted by the State Department of Education and IS rated 'A by the Texas Inter SChO1aSt1C League of Colored Schools . . . . 5 , .
