For the second consecutive year the local chap- ter heavies won the championship hy downing Arcata 28-21 in the playoff. The C team also came through for a very easy championship and the H's won second place in their class. It took the local heavies just seven games to win the championship. while the gifs won it in four. The Ns had to participate in a playoff and downed Fortuna and Arcata in order. Prospects of getting varsity material out of the Future Farmer teams are great lie- cause this is a hne hunch of material coming up. SIIOR HS I. The llloclc F Society. an honorary group of thirty-two this year. achieved outstanding suc- cess in urging students to keep off the gym lloor. thus maintaining the lmest court in the county. So far this year. excluding track and tennis. the hoys have been really stepping up in their athletic ability. The Seniors have amassed 61 letters out of a total of 98 in the whole school. Camphell Miller, the only five-sport man ever to attend Ferndale High. received three letters in foothall. four in lmaskethall. three in lvasehall, three in track. and two in tennis. He was an all-county athlete in practically all sports. Keith Ferguson won an honor sweater for earning: three lrlock F's in foothall. two in haskethall. and four in hasehall. A home ground jinx seems to be held over Ferndale hall teams because they haven't won a ball game in the local high school diamond in four years. The outstanding game was the encounter at E. Giul- Hansen , Fortuna when Coach I0rgensen's club downed the champions 3 to 2 in a hard fought game. During the season Ferndale won three games and lost three to keep up a .500 per cent av- erage. SCORES 8- 4 Alumni 3- 2 Fortuna 3- 9 Arcata 8- 2 Hoopa 4- 6 South Fork 3- 8 Del Norte 29-31 Totals This year Ferndale High had more dual meets than ever before in the history of the school. The Seniors took the inter-class meet. Others were held with the Alumni, Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, and Humboldt-Del Norte C. l. F. competitors at Arcata. Last year the lightweights took second in the big meet and the heavies third. Several outstanding performances were given, among them three by Alvin Biondini who broke the high hurdle record, and took second in the broad jump for high point honors in the MA division. Also, P. Petersen and D. Pedrazzini Front Rowf D. Clausen, J. Flocchini, W. Clausen, J. Lorenzo, C. Miller, C. Detlefsen, L. Briggs. Back Rowf Coach Jorgensen., C. Christiansen, C. Richmond, Ru. Escola, P. Petersen, R. B Jacobsen, H. Lorenzo. took second and third respectively in the pole vault, and C. Christiansen second in the mile. In the lightweight division Branstetter took first and two seconds in the shot putt, low hur- dles and broad jump, respectively. C. Miller copped a first in the 440 and a third in the shot putt. M. Olsen took a second in the high jump, and R. Becker took first in the high jump, while K. Nicholson placed fourth in the 100-yard dash. Point winners on the NCR team were I. Olsen, A. Barri and J.
