Judging Teams and exhibiTs were senT To The STaTe Fair in SacramenTo, where Ferndale won The ninTh award in The Grand Prize ConTesT Tor all F. F. A. ChapTers in CaliTornia. The Greenhand lniTiaTion Tor ThirTy-one new members was held in The Gym on OcTober TwenTy-Third. ln November The FuTure Farmers made a survey OT over nineTy per cenT oT The ranches in The Ferndale DisTricT To TormulaTe a livesToclc census and To deTer- mine argiculTural pracTices. The Gym was compleTely TransTormed inTo a barn Tor The F. F. A. Barn Dance on SaTurday, December I4. A program was presenTed during The inTermission, and cider was served To The many who were presnT. The Second annual FaTher and Son BanqueT on February I2 was boTh larger and beTTer Than The previous one. Over one hundred TaThers, sons, and honored guesTs were presenT To enioy The banqueT and enTerTainmenT. The sTudenTs compleTed various oTher proiecTs such as pruning The Trees and planT- ing lawn aT The Village Club. BoTh Mr. Sorem and Mr. SmiTh unTiringly helped in all oT These proiecTs. The Ferndale ChapTer won over one hundred dollars in premium awards, besides many ribbons and oTher Trophies. A Tew oT The Ferndale members who showed live- sToclc were Ray Olsen, Harry Tonini, RoberT Tonini, Leslie Hendrickson, Cecil Jo Hind- ley, George T-lindley, Carrol BryanT, Joe Godinho, MarTin Barri, and KenneTh PeTer- sen. The boys also won many TirsT places in The Farm Mechanics class. ln The judging conTesTs Ferndale Tared very well. The Farm Mechanics Team, composed OT Jay Dinsmore, Lloyd STone, and Gerald Nicholson won TirsT place. The PoulTry Team oT George A. l-lindley, Charles Trigg and AlberT WhiTe won second place. The LivesToclc Team, wiTh Cecil Jo Flindley, Lloyd STone and Gordon Crane as members, won Third place. The Dairy CaTTle Team composed oT RoberT Tonini, KenneTh PeTersen, and Wendell Clausen received Third place. No Ferndale Team Tailed To place in any conTesT.
