Z lant Czustoclians joseph Hindley Herbert Kausen S. F. Laloli C .laflt HE PLANT is the buildings, grounds, buses, and other physical equipment through which the school functions. In other words it is the physical body of the organism we call Our School. We are exceedingly fortunate in having three men whose time is devoted to keeping us clean and neat in appearance. The job of keeping our lawns, buildings, and buses in such shape that we are proud of them, is a big oneg and one in which we all are happy to participate. Our football field is as fine as any we know of, and far superior to that of any of our , immediate nei hbors. Our mnasium is in the same class. Our main building, X g gl' . due to the foresight of its builders and to the care it has received, is rendering li excellent service and will continue to do so for many years to come. Our buses ' 2 are such that we are proud of them, wherever we may see them. One of the most im ortant factors in the sentiment we idealize as school , '. P 26 spirit is The Plant and the effect it has upon us as we live in it during the under' 1, ' l Yraduate ears. We are rateful that the tax a ers, throu h their Trustees, have is Y s p V g Y V lg' given us a Plant that we can remember with respect, and we are happy to accord X it the affection it deserves. 1 Z THE CHIEF CUSTODIAN. fmmmwm aCll1tY FEW YEARS AGO teachers had the idea that they taught subjects. One teacher would say, I teach History. Another would say, I teach Shop. One of the leaders in educational philosophy not long ago, when asked what he taught, replied, I teach boys and girls. That expresses the difference between the old education and the new. While there were teachers in the old days who were human, the teaching profession on the whole was characterized by an over emphasis on subject matter. The idea has developed more recently, that the important thing is the young man or woman who is at the receiving end of the process. It is our function to contribute to the human development of the future citizens of the country. We have no hope nor any desire of making them uniformly scholastic. We do hope that what we offer will tend to make each in his own way a better, more human, being. RALPH B. DOUGHTY. ' ug. i 4 4.
