fmmmwm aCll1tY FEW YEARS AGO teachers had the idea that they taught subjects. One teacher would say, I teach History. Another would say, I teach Shop. One of the leaders in educational philosophy not long ago, when asked what he taught, replied, I teach boys and girls. That expresses the difference between the old education and the new. While there were teachers in the old days who were human, the teaching profession on the whole was characterized by an over emphasis on subject matter. The idea has developed more recently, that the important thing is the young man or woman who is at the receiving end of the process. It is our function to contribute to the human development of the future citizens of the country. We have no hope nor any desire of making them uniformly scholastic.
