Mathematics: Always calculating The 1981-82 school year saw the introduction of a new course in the Mathematics Department called Advanced Placement Calculus. Those students having taken algebra during the eighth grade are eligible for this course, and they may elect to take the advanced placement exam given na- tionwide during May. College credit is given to those who score well enough on this exam. Below left: “Flower Day” brightens up correcting papers for Mrs. Minncci. MARCHES ON TIME MARCHES ON TIME MARCHES ON TIM Always busy, the music department not only offers classes in both instru- mental and vocal music, but also prepares each group to perform for the school and community throughout the year. Emphasis on performance includes participation in festivals where our groups have a chance to be rated by university level judges. The “Solo and Ensemble Festival” pro- vides tough competition with students all over the state, as musicians are tested in both performance and sight reading skills. Reaching State com- petition this year were: Greg Poterala, Trombone; Kathy Ura, Flute; Mike Haddad, Violin; Micheline Chase, Flute; Katie Dixon, Flute.
