The two primary objectives of the department are: teaching for business and teaching about business. English: Reading is fundamental The key word that describes the English program is diversity. In some classrooms, speaking skills are being developed through speeches, interpretive readings, scene inactment or group discussion. Writing skills take shape in a creative attempt at a short story, a journal, an editorial, an essay ques- tion or a research paper. Listening skills are shar- pened through lectures, note-taking or audio-visual presentations. Yet at the heart of all these activities are the reading skills which are formed. Reading is the cornerstone of all language skills.
