It's all the board can afford to pay you, Miss Jones, but we donit feel it loolcs right for you to be working extra as a cashier in the dime stores on Saturdaysf' What in the world do you teachers do with all your spare time? We can't live with them, and we canit live without them. They're mostly nice but sometimes cranky and often un-understanding-like mothers. Teachers provide the spark of life for deathj to the eager students who throng and beat down the doors of F.I-I.S. early every morning. The beaming countenances of our elders greet us and start our day off right with a bang. She always prints her name. What are teachers always crabbing about? After all, they get the whole summer off. She looks like a teacher. I hear the reason she never married was she had an unhappy love affair. Surely you must be mistaken. My son wouldn't have said a thing like that to anyone - even a teacher. The job pays 53500, and, of course, you'll coach the dramatics club, chaperone the Friday night dance, take the tickets at the football games, and . . .H q'Naturally, your private life is your own, Miss Jones, but this is a small town and we've never had a woman teacher who smoked in publicf' Frankly, the opportunity for advancement is limited, but you'll have the satisfaction of molding young mindsf' I don't know where he picks up such language - unless it's in school. None praised her unceasing efforts, None know of her wondrous plan For the temple the teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man. Gone is the builderis temple, Crumpled into the dust, Pillars and groins and arches Food for consuming rust, But the temple the teacher builded Will last while the ages roll, For that beautiful unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul.
