Prom Senior Class President Says “Good-by” The 1962 Prom was a night which we will all remember. The theme of the evening was “Star- dust? It was held on Friday, May 11, at Sun- nehanna Country Club. A delicious dinner of Roast Turkey or Fillet of Haddock was served, after which the traditional dance was held. The Atom-aires music combo provided us with some swinging dance music. 89

Ferndale-Dale has always produced first-rate athletic teams, and many awards are in our trophy cases to support this statement. The athletic teams that have been beaten by us were not passive or push-overs. One can feel proud when he realizes that Ferndale-Dale is a small school compared with the sizes of the ones it plays. Although representing a small school which is usually the underdog, Ferndale-Dale’s athletic aggregations have had many victorious seasons, but defeats are also taken in stride. Win or lose, our athletes never falter from displaying true sportsmanship and fighting spirit which have become a tradition here at Ferndale-Dale. When our stu- dents win at an athletic contest, they aren’t seeking individual glory or praise; but rather, they’re acquiring glory and recognition for their school. Much credit for our winning goes to the coaching staff and the student body. Behind every successful team there is a coach who has devoted long, tedious hours of his time in an effort to accomplish perfection. Besides teaching how to win, our coaches have also taught our teams how to accept defeats along with victories, which is a very important part of athletics. Because one is not athletically inclined, he should not disregard sports. A team needs support from its student body; thus, one can join the pep club or con- tribute in one way or another to help back the team. Whenever a student admires our trophy cases, filled with many awards, he will undoubtedly admit that the present and past athletes of our school have strived to make the athletic teams of Ferndale-Dale—THE BEST!
