Picture Day After a visit from a representative of the Apgar Studio, we seniors made an appointment to have our graduation pictures taken at Marshalltown. We started in the morning of November 10, 1954, in 2 cars, Kelly's and Mr. Begg's. We reached our destination and commenced to have our pictures taken. After each had had his pic- ture taken, we went in search of a place to eat. Having our dinner we were taken on a tour of the Fischer Govemor Factory, where we spent most of the afternoon. We had a little time before we could pick up our proofs so we all went on our merry way with the boys and Mr. Begg trying their skill'at playing pool and the girls and Mrs . Begg going shopping. Late in the afternoon we went to the studio to see if we had broken the camera. After we had picked up our proofs, Mr. and Mrs. Begg went home to an engage- ment previously made and we went and ate our supper. For the evening's entertainment, we had a hard time deciding what movie to see so we went each to his own choice. After enioying the movies, we left Marshalltown, tired, but well satisfied with the day's results. Skip Day O1 Monday, May 2, 1955, we six seniors and our sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Begg , skipped school to spend an enjoyable day in Des Moines. We arrived at the Police Station about 9:30 A.M. which we toured. We spent most of the morning there learning different ways in which it was operated. We then went uptown and ate a delicious meal at Bishops. In the afternoon we started to climb the stairs to the top of the Capitol. Mr. Begg was lost on the first flight of stairs, but the seniors continued to the top. Next we entered the Historical Building to fur- ther our day's education. Then we thought it was time for refreshments so we toured the Coca- Cola Plant where we received a free bottle of pop. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping. We ate our supper at Lonny's Drive lnn. We drove out to the Cool Crest Miniature Golf Course to try our luck at hitting the ball into the little hole. After getting good at this, we went to the Driving lbnge to see how far we could hit the ball. To round the day's entertainment, we went to the movies. The boys went to the Drive lnn to see Rear Window and the girls and Mr. and Mrs. Begg went down town to see A Man Called Peter . We then returned home after a very enjoyable day. 19
