DEDICATION Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” — Viaor Hugo For their unselfish devotion and many contributions to our school, the Class of 1979 would like to dedicate its yearbook to Mr. John Mariano (at left) and Mr. Joseph Giangrasso (below) the Fermi High School Music Directors. Both teachers have given many hours and exerted tireless efforts in order to make our football games, pep rallies, assemblies and community functions a celebration of life as well as music. Moreover, the enduring contributions they have made to the lives of each of the student musicians they have worked with can be fully measured only in the years to come. During the years we have been at Fermi, there have been many times when our spirits have been lifted by the music spilling into the hallways from the band room. But what remains closest to our hearts is the memory that as the seasons turned, each one had its own special sound. When songs like Rocky” and We Are the Champions” stirred the blood, could fall sports be far behind. And what would winter at Fermi have been without the joy and love that echoed in the beauty of the season’s music? Then, brassy parade rehearsals, heard through windows closed against the winter, would be our earliest heralds of spring. Finally, the bittersweet music of commencement exercises would signal an end and a beginning. Now that bittersweet music plays for us — one more time, one last time. Thank you, Mr. Mariano and Mr. Giangrasso, for all the beauty, and all the riches of memories you have given us.
