officers President MIKE BLACKBURN Vuce Presudent RON JENKINS Secretary SALLY ARMS Treasurer TERRY SMITH student councul One of the most actuve organuzatuons un the hugh school us the Student Councul It was estab :shed un T945 at whuch tume ut had only suxteen fnembers Today the councul has grown to more than three tumes uts orugunal suze Exustung un an advusory rather than a governung capacuty the councul consusts of a fourteen mem ber Executuve Commuttee and one representatuve from each fourth hour class Thzs year all repre sentatuves schedules were arranged so that they wouud be scheduled for physucal educatuon thurd hour Student Councul meetungs were held durung the thurd hour on the days on whuch the repre sentatuves would have ordunaruly had study hall Monday Wednesday and Fruday durung the furst semester and Tuesday and Thursday durung the second semester The Executuve Commuttee met on alternate days I957 58 has been a year of fursts for the Stu dent Councul Thus year our furst Foreugn Exchange Student Masataka Fuuuta of Japan was brought to our school wuth funds contrubuted by the Fer guson Rotary Club The furst student talent as sembly was presented by the Assembly Com muttee Thus year also a new constututuon was wrutten under the durectuon of the Electuon and Ruues Commuttee Included un thus constututuon was a system of unutuatuve and referendum where by the student body by means of petutuons could demand the rught to vote on any ussue and could unutuate any other whuch seemed necessary Ours us one of the furst counculs to unclude such pro vusuons un uts constututuon The 1957 58 Student Councul receuved natuonal recognutuon when the 22nd Conference of the Na tuonal Assocuatuon of Student Counculs was held at 'VIcCIuer Junuor Hugh School from June 22 26 Tnus years councul was sponsored by Musses Euleen Smuth and Reguna Jerzewuak I .
