.ft PUBLICITY COMMITTEE Chairman of the Publicity Committee this year was Judy Brenner. The com- mittee designed a new calendar for school events and maintained it regularly. The students were kept informed of all Student Council committee meetings by an accurate schedule which was posted onthe bulletin board. EDUCATION COMMITTEE Headed by Pat Curtis the Education Committee planned, for the first time, a senior orientation to college. Under this plan representatives from various colleges answered questions concerning college life. The committee organized Career Day in April, and sponsored soph- omore orientation'in the spring. INot Showni: Gail Phillips. Y' SAFETY COMMITTEE The Safety Committee, headed by Steve Sample, engaged in research on civil defense. They organized and put into effect an adequate civil defense pro- gram, and made a safety check of all possible hazards in the school. SOCIAL COMMITTEE The Social Committee with Liz Lips as chairman was responsible for planning a nd decorating all Student Council dances. The first dance of the year was the Pig Skin Prom, at which an honor- ary football team was elected. Christ- mas came and the committee trans- formed the gym into a breathtaking Symphony of Snow. WELCOMING COMMITTEE The Welcoming Committee's purpose is to welcome any new student who enters school after the first of the year. One boy and one girl from each grade level are chosen to carry out this duty. A Mock Presidential Election was held giving students a realistic view of an authentic election. The committee super- vised the election ot senior class officers and Junior Prom Committee. Another im- portant activity ot the committee was the election ot student council officers in the spring. 1 Q I ETHICS COMMITTEE The Ethics Committee this year was under the leadership of Bob Tippett. A Code ot Ethics was presented to each student at the Sportsmanship Campaign held in December. ln January a Clean-up Campaign was conducted. Minimum re- quirements were set up tor school clubs and plans were made to renew all char- ters in the spring. SERVICE COMMITTEE The Service Committee, with Karla Kretzman as chairman, oriented a student exchange program for the school year T957-58. We were proud to be the first public high school in St. Louis County to have such a program. The committee also contributed to the support ot two war orphans through collections from the stu- dent body, provided ushers tor school ac- tivities and had charge ot the publication ot the Who's Who Books, Eazk Row: Skeet Sesney, Stan Ries, Chuzk Moore, Don Wyatt, Ron Frede, Steve White, Russ Kirby, Front Row: Sharon Maloney, LeAndre Labury, Delores Gantner, Linda Sell, Karla Kretzrriann, Chairman, Lynn Harris, Barbara Chamberlain, Rosemary Wermke, Sandy Dornan. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE The Public Relations Committee with Bob Arkes as chairman, concentrated on promoting better relations between the school and community, The committees main projects included the publication of articles in local newspapers concerning important school events. Another pri- mary proiect ot the committee was the planning and editing ofa full length mo- tion picture showing the various activi- ties of the Ferguson High Student Coun- cil. Welcoming committees were formed to greet each paid assembly tor this year. These committees helped in setting up the performers' equipment.
