It is a dramatic love story of a governess who comes to Thornfield Hall to take care of Adele, Mr. Rochester's ward. She falls in love with Mr. Rochester, but the conflict of his former marriage arises in the forms of Grace Poole and an unknown woman. Mrs. Fairfax, the house- keeper, stands by during the courtship and after the secret of Mr. Rochester's insane wife is discovered. Jayne Eyre leaves him but comes back to find the east wing of the house bumed, and that he was blind. His former wife had killed herself, so Mr. Rochester asked Jane again to marry him, and they live happily ever after. The play was directed by Mrs. Milton, with E. An- dert as student director.
