As fime goes b As we settle back in our arm chairs and dig out the magnificent scrapbook of our class, the class of '48, we wonder and chuckle over our achievements, downfalls, and tribu- lations. In the year 1930 the generous stork brought us blessed little angels and laid us in pink and blue blanketed cribs There we lay con tented while our mothers gushed and cooed over us Our first teeth were sprung and our fat woobly legs soon discovered the art of crawling and walkin' Our brains receive more folds and we be came bright enough for an education Phyllis Haskell Emmett Heiberg Bob Olson Cora 'vfae Zenner and Arthur Barke attended Claire Ann Shover Nursery School and learn ed how to break crayons and stuff them in their little mouths ln 1936 we attended first grade That was the vear the teacher sent Virginia Frees home because she was so small Bubs johnson made a visit each mommg to 'vlarg Salmonsons home and protected her on the way to school ln fourth grade part of the Lincoln School population was moved to the NicKmley School The Blue Bird girls and Cubs assem bled and earned higher ranks and awards Every Tuesdav aftemoon we gathered at our churches for Tuesdav school and met nevy friends From second until sixth grades the W PA employ ed a tap dancing and music teacher to teach us hovv to wiggle our toes and moyz our fingers As the girls cune to sixth grade they be came morc domc strc 'ind joined the Whistle While VVe Work sewing club Gerry Halvor son still enoyed the more playful life and chased an practically killed the Adams school girls Willard Anderson Don Nelson and Leo Nlarty played tag or cowboy with Bev Sawyer Marg Salmonson and Phvl Has kell Bobby Olson found great joy in chasing his dog after Kay Glende In 1942 we graduated from grade school ind entered junior High janct XVilson wrote lbout Freddv Fro s loumeys for the school paper ln the fo lowing March the great blizzard formed and stalled manv at thc Moorhead game ln the following year slam books floated write the meanest slam about another fellovy The girls glorled in wearing cardigan sweat ers backwards and their breaths were taken awav bv Bill Fosss bright yellow sweater The American Legion Awards were given to the outstanding hov and girl Bob Olson and Phyllis Haskell This was the year Eunice Hellickson acted as Bob Olsons wife in the one act play VVhy Hubert' Dalton Elizabeth and other mral students entered the Freshman Class with us That year Bill Foss started out as our athletic hero on the football and basketball team Evervonc sang Niairzy Doats as we pranced around in yeans and long shirts which were so dignl fied and daintv'99 ' Eunice Hellickson and Sally Hanson created a not in acting out Nfrs Xfurphy s Lhowder Ah' Hes' And then in our sophomore year we entered senior high Nlary Bloomquist gained many a gu'ls heart speeding around with lns motorcycle That was the year the seventeen girls got together and formed the Calling All Girls Club In spring we present ed our talent convocation The gals swooned and nearlv fell on their pans when jack Rob erts san Dear Xfom and Bubs johnson Shoo Fv Pie Y As another vear passed we started the year ont with a bang modeling stocking caps the gayer and longer the better' We won the Homecoming convocation skit award and felt pretty proud ln November we became super salesmen and sold more tickets for A Date VV1th judy than ever before Pot luck sup pers were all the go and we enloyed a can teen in the boys gym after Ventilating it' Bev Sawyer and Clint Schroeder won the best junior Thesplan awards Bud Berg and Ruth Stock together with Bob Olson and Elaine Bergerud were the ever steady couples To make the year complete we had the unror Senior banquet party and rom The halls were decorated In blue an white and re sembled a ship After this rand event many of us went to parties at t e lakes Seniors' Wow' Now we were the big wheels of the school King Bill Foss and Queen Phyl Haskell reigned over us on rainy Homecoming Day The day closed with the football game and Elks dance Bill Foss and lhalmer Kellec were our basketball stars Bill Bob Hotchkiss and Bob Olson our football heroes and Squirt Willard and Bob Hotchkiss our fighting champs The Canteen was once again started and proved a success I' he Boys Quartet Bob Olson Nfary Bloom qinst Edward Kuehnel and Dale Rude ac companred by Emmett Heiberg won first prize at the Parkers Prairie amateur contest singing 'yfv Loney Island Baby We couldnt forget the change of styles Gibson Girl blouses tics long balenna skuts and black hose were the striking clothes modeled by the gals much to the boys disgust Love was not orgottcn' N nrgmia Frees surpnsed ey erv one by displaying a beautiful engagement ring Somc of the boys swore off womtn but soon broke tht yows Outstanding personalities in thc class proy ed to be our award winners Bausch Lomb kyyard Duane Helgeson D -K R Phyllis Haskell V FW winners Llinton Schroeder and Arlene Fick We were also proud of our Representative Seniors Bob Olson Rita Xfonson Emmett Heiberg and Phyllis Has e Each spring the basketball toumaments and music festivals were the peak of our freedom and fun' Generally by 400 ANI ey ery one was ready for the mattress is Time Goes By was the neys school song picked by the Student Council The seniors were entertained by the yuniors with a splendid and
