Forensics The Friar Forensics Team continued the Fenwick tradition of excellence in 1986- 87. The team enjoyed success in three major areas of speech competition: Indi- vidual Events, Student Congress, and Lin- coln-Douglas Debate. Senior Carl Bergetz led the Friars in Individual Events, placing third in the Chicago Catholic League in Original Oratory, for his second straight trip to national competition. In Lincoln- Douglas debate, senior Anil D'Souza is currently ranked third in the Catholic League. Fenwick, however, has enjoyed its most success in Student Congress, where the Friars possess one of the best teams in the League. Led by seniors Rob Spartz, John Stompor, and Preston Jones, along with sophomore George Spaniak, the Friars are considered to be one of the best teams in the league. Thanks to the excellent coaching of Mr. Andrew Arellano, Miss Nancy Greco, and Mr. Greg Pauley, the Friars have enjoyed success this year. This coaching, along with underclassmen prospects Roy Pura, John Schleiter, George Spaniak, and Ed Simokitis, guarantee an even more pros- perous future.
