I ' II ll I tl56ll A Jzwphecg, After fifteen years the class of 55 held a reuruon on the U S S Nautilus commanded by Ad mrral Ronald Mortensen The ship was decorated w1th spec1alstra1nS of flowers developed by D J Priebe owner of the famous Priebe Weed House Inc of Hong Kong One of the f1rst persons to arrrve was Patty Beckley This was qtute a thrill for Patty since lt was the first time away from the farm near Lotts Creek and her SIX chtldren The next to arrive was Clarence Bierstedt who brought along a gold miniature typewnter for each of his former classmates since he 1S president of the largest typewr1t1ng concern rn the world the Srlent Sleeper Much to the surprtse of the class Jan1oeJentz s first two marriages were unsuccessful so she gave up the role of housewife to become a great actress on Broadwalk Alan Helland dropped in for a few rrunutes to say hello to everyone He had to rush back to his church to preachasermon for afuneral Of course he was also rn a hurry to return to his wife a former Fenton girl ln case anyone became sea sick, Bessre Bollinger a capable nurse was on hand to grve as sistance One form of enterta1nment was a solo played by John Ergler who IS now w1th the Guy Lumbago Orchestra 1n New York This talent comes in handy for lulhng to sleep h1s lrttle red headed girls as spry and happy as ever desplte the drudgery of her three chxldren James Bierstedt who came to the docks 1n tus new Jaguar informed us that he had swrtched from Oldsmobiles to Jaguars since h1s thousand acre cattle farm has prospered Lors Vorgt and JoAnn Bierstedt arrived together smce they are living tn the same stute in Washmgton D C Lois 1S employed as secretary to the Presrdent of the U S and JoAnn rs d1rector of the youth camp outslde the crty We must not overlook the fact that D1ck I-hatt had the decks shmmg for us when we boarded the shtp Too bad that Dick IS still a swabby after fifteen years 1n the Navy Berruce Potratz is now a very effrcrent bookkeeper for her husband who IS an up and coming businessman in the lme of car servxce Larry Root who is now a mechanical engineer for the Dohn J eere Tractor Co brought along a model of his latest motor drawing Sharon Ergler who had just arrived home from her tour of the world brought along some souvemrs to show us Of course she rs now happxly marrled to an ex Army man from Fenton and they now have three chrldren As the reunion ended Gerald Gertzenauer one of Admiral Mortensen s top men fired a twenty one gtm salute to the great class of 55 and we all agreed to meet again rn frfteen years and talk over old times WEISBROD D X Fenton Iowa 12 1 Another farmer's wife, Donna Zumach, living near LoneRock, joined us.
