DAVIS, JR. JAMES T. DRISCOLL, JR. _ Business Manager JOSEPH G, ANDERS Foreword The road to success is sometimes short, but more often one finds the goals he has set reaching into what seems to be infinity. Though our road to success may be long and trying, we find that when it is reached and our journey has ended, we can look back and it does not seem to have been as difficult as we felt it would be at the beginning. And when we reminisce, may we see that we have given someone else the lift that he nee ded to guide him in the right direction. If one knows the goals he has set, Fayetteville Technical Institute can put him on the right road and in the right direction, but whether or not he reaches his goals depends not so much on the road as on the driver himself. Mathematics, English, Physics, Human Relations and Economics are among the related subjects offered in addition to the major subject. The program offers background training in all the major occupations of the industry. Upon completion of this work the graduate will be qualified to enter many technical occupations in the field today. It is unforseeable in the near future that supply will catch up with the demand for the highly-skilled technicians in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The industry offers a bright future for thousands of young people who will adequately prepare themselves through study, hard work and determination in obtaining a technical education. Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate is awarded the Associate of Applied Science Degree by the Department of Community Colleges under the North Carolina State Board of Education. 30 JOE BAGGETT JAMES T. It includes, along with farming, those industries associ- ated with processing and marketing of agricultural products. The curriculum in Agricultural Business Technology includes courses in the agricultural sciences, crop and livestock production, farm mechanization, economics, financing and marketing, accounting and business ma- chines. A vital part of any technical training are related subjects such as chemistry, English, and mathematics, which are part of the curriculum. This educational program will equip the student with the necessary back- ground, when tempered with sufficient experience, to accept the responsibility of being manager or assistant manager of farms or agricultural businesses. An edu- cational program in Agricultural Business Technology provides for you an opportunity to continue to be a part of agriculture--North Carolina's largest industry. 33 BILLY PAT BAGGETT EDWARD BAKER DONALD W, BROCK DANIEL BROWN Midway, N.C. Engineering Materials Testing of both the raw materials and samples from the finished structure is taught in an elaborately equipped physical testing laboratory. In the field of building construction, the student is taught the basic concepts of domestic, commercial and industrial con- struction from the planning, estimating and supervising viewpoint. Engineering Drafting provides the civil technician with a knowledge of the universal language of expression between the engineer and contractor. Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate student is awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology by the Department of Community Colleges under the North Carolina State Board of Education. 35 Civil Engineering Technology Il © JOHN A. Within these groups and overlapping from group to group there are many employment opportuni- ties. The basic concepts, circuits, test equipment, and their use in the electronics field are presented in theory, by demonstration, and through extensive lab work whic h assures the student's technical skill and experience. This time-proven way of training, combined with actual experience using test equipment, trains the student in the know-how ! to a level of technical ability that is in demand and makes his progress most rapid. The related skills, such as mathematics, science, drafting, English and report writing, are part of the program to give the student the basic abilities of all well-qualified technicians. Radio and Television Trade The field of radio and television service is one of the most technical of all of the service occupations. . This is a fast-growing and ever-changing field of work. Color television, transistors, and printed circuits are just a few of the many developments affecting the future of men engaged in electronics production and maintenance jobs. To be able to do this work, young men must have the ability to do considerable work in mathematics and science. This course prepares young men specifically to enter the field of radio and television servicing. Graduates also find opportunities in other branches of the television industry. Theory in the classroom is supplemented by practice in operating basic radio circuits and by practical experience in servicing radio and television receivers. 72 Radio and Television Trade D.D.
