CHANCELLOR ' S MESS A GE 1979 is a benchmark year. At the end of this year I will have served this institution for ten years and I will have witnessed ten classes of Fayetteville State University seniors graduate and take their rightful places in American society. During this year we have also witnessed the challenges that have faced the historically black institutions along with the commitment of dedicated faculty members determined to meet those challenges. Fayetteville State University cares about the students who matriculate here and ultimately graduate. We care enough to work conscientiously to make sure that this educational opportunity is always available for the students who desire to come here. It is our hope that as this class prepares to leave that it will also be preparing to support Fayetteville State University and the mission it serves so that others may continue to benefit from the programs here. Our entire educational program is designed to enlighten and enrich the quality of life of the students we serve. We hope that the educational foundation that you have acquired within these walls will sus- tain you always. As you graduate and become alumni of this university, remember that your continued support will be critical to the continued vitality of your alma mater.
