FOREWORD Changes in life in general are perpetual, and are probably most prevalent, specifi- cally, in education. As we thumbed through the pages of some of our old annuals (1927- 29) , we could see more clearly the vast number of outstanding changes that have occur- ed during the years, here at our Alma Mater. The annual, first called The Smithsonian, was later entitled The Bronco , andin 1961, renamed The Fayettevillian. The faculty and staff has increased from approxi- mately twenty-five (1927) to more than seventy-five at present. The enrollment shifted from the low hundreds to more than one-thousand, while the senior class compares thirty-one to one-hundred fifty. In 1927, buildings were few, scattered around undevelop- ed grounds, while today there are more than twenty modern structures stately placed on well-planned, beautifully landscaped, grounds. Courses of study have expanded with the changing times. We, the present college family, take pride in tipping our intellectual caps to all of these-the founders, supporters, administrators, faculty and staff, and alumni-who have helped and are helping to pave our road of progress. Our hearts are filled with pride as we pay tribute during this, the 85th year of the founding of the College. ' ' GJianoes Uhrouon Une years • ■) 1962 — — 1927 — hH ' «M| . ' ■ ' •fS ' ,
