Che Hlslory of the Scmor 511155 of 1953 n the fall of the year of 1947 a per1od of hfe started for 115 boys and glrls that was to prove to be a per1od we would alv. ays remember w1th fond memor1es Thms marked our f1rst year on the h1ll lt meant new and old acqualntances would gather together to start a s1x year struggle 1n whlch most of us would wxn W1tn Mrs Lora Dav1s as our seventh grade sponsor we all started out on the r1ght foot m that great exper1ence full of mysterzes and adventures We had loads of fun 1n our fmrst year 1n Jun1or H1gh but as we found more was on 1ts way In the fall of 48 we came back to school as a group of 93 ready to start another year of our clmmb for the goal of all students Under the sponsorshlp of Mxss Martha Bragg our elghth year started off w1th a bang e hada box lunch supper at Cvatewood and near the close of the school year we had a class p1cn1c at the Beckwith 41-I Camp Raynell Ke1th was our M155 .Ir Pxrate cand1date ln the contest spon sored by the A B Club At the end of our e1ghth year we had zncreased 1n stature and knowledge under the gllldlng hand of our M1ss Bragg Back to school we came 102 strong 1n the fall of 49 to be the blg h1gh steplng green Freshmen We really thought we knew lt all but we found out very soon that we were wrong Under the d1rect1on of Mrs Bern1ce Gladwell we settled down to the gr1nd and fun of our n1nth year We had a carnlval that was a successful h1t In the class tournament we won the cheer1ng trophy Our cand1date for Mxss Jr P1rate was Anne Barnett At the close of our n1nth year we had a party to celebrate the endlng of our last year ln .Tumor H1gh When September of 1930 rolled around our class started out 1n our Sophomore year 96 1n number We had a class p1cn1c at the 41-I Camp where a good t1me was had by all Charlene Cutr1ght was the M1ss Sr P1rate candmdate for our class Wlth Mr Holly M Kessler as our sponsor we learned more and more about h1gh school When we came back 1n 1951 to start our Jumor year we were 84 1n number Agam Mr Kes sler was our sponsor and under h1s leadershlp we started our bus1est year Betty Harms was the M155 Sr Plrate cand1date for otr class We held a Talent Show whlch was a bxg success and we also sponsored the Halloween Carmval Our largest Job th1s year was the Jumor Semor Prom whxch proved to be the b1ggest success of our class 1n all of our years 1n h1gh school In the year of 1952 we the Senxor Class came back 74 strong to complete that portton of our lxves wluch wxll prove to be full of mystery and adventure to all of those who dare to follow the same path that we chose Under the dxrectxon of M1ss Madelme Slms we had a full and bountxful Sem or year Our Mlss Senlor Pxrate Queen was Anne Barnett We put on the Senior Class play and took actlve part 1n the production of the Annual The Class p1cn1c brought to mmd that the day of departure was growlng near and xt struck a note of sorrow and of joy ln all of our hearts The day of Graduatlon 15 close at hand and as we look back upon those years of hard strug gle and play we fmd that they were not spent 1n vaxn We have reached our goal and one of the bxg steppmg stones of our l1ves We w1l1 leave old frxends behmnd but we w1ll never forget them So 1n closmg the h1story of the Semor Class of 1953 we wxsh to express our thanks and appre cxatxon to the Faculty of Fayettevxlle Hxgh School for helpxng us prepare for the lxves we lead mn the world today and tomorrow Rkfft ' c ' c 'T fi W rriolb Q ' W J , N' . f , ,xy - ,W W
