Secretaries Work Diligently MRS. ANNE WILKINS The management of all student cumulative folders is one duty of Mrs. Wilkins, the school registrar. In addi- tion, she works with incoming students, acquainting them with the class and lunch schedules and the various school activities. MRS. SARA BULLARD Mrs. Bullard, the clinic secretary, performs many indis- pensable services. She checks attendance cards, aids students seeking clinic services, and compiles the absentee list each day. MRS. MIRIAM CARTER As school treasurer, Mrs. Carter’s responsibilities include collecting students fees and handling the funds of all school organizations. She also maintains accurate records of bills and school transcripts. 29

Mr. Sasser Guides School Mr. Sasser exemplifies the qualities of patience and understanding necessary to carry out the duties of a high school principal. Firm, fair, and positive, Mr. John T. Sasser guides the des- tiny of Fayetteville Senior High School. His methods of dealing with student and fac- ulty problems each day are a credit to his executive ability. He relies on good judgment and a sense of fairness to maintain a cooperative spirit between faculty and students. The office of principal re- quires devotion to one’s work and love of students. As leader of a large and progressive school, Mr. Sasser’s is a full- time job. In addition to his many responsibilities during the school day, he directs all extra-curricular activities of the school. Mr Sasser acts as the important link between the City Board of Education and Fayetteville Senior High. During his eight years as principal, Mr. Sasser has estab- lished a progressive .and ef- ficient system at FHS. He has earned the lasting respect and admiration of both the faculty and the student body. Warren Named Assistant Principal MR. PERCY A. WARREN Wake Forest College, B.S.; Physics; Marshal Sponsor, Coordinator of Driver Education, Assistant Principal MRS. HELEN R. MASK Mars Hill College, Appalachian State University, B.S. ; English III; LaFamac Sponsor, Dean of Students Few faculty members are more important to the smooth functioning of FHS than the Assistant Principal, Mr. Warren, and the Dean of Students, Mrs. Mask. To their office are brought the discipline problems of the school. Under the firm guidance of Mr. Warren or Mrs. Mask, these problems are handled and, if necessary, punishment is assigned to stu- dents. In addition to contending with disciplinary problems, the deans are responsible for check- ing students in and out of school during class hours. All tardies must be excused through the deans’ office. A monthly attendance report is another responsibility. To clear up prob- lems concerning school policy and attendance, conferences are frequently arranged between teachers and parents. Any student who sin- cerely wishes to receive help with his in- dividual problem is welcome in the dean’s of- fice. The positions of Assistant Principal and Dean of Students are new ones at FHS this year. In past years, the duties of these of- fices were performed by the Dean of Boys and the Dean of Girls. 30
