The school board, like a corporation, understands the magnitude and scope of the require- ments of each school. Due to the great devotion of the board members, the Fayetteville city schools have main- tained an outstanding record of achievement. Serving without salary, the members of the board have unself- ishly devoted themselves to the government of the school Mr. J. Mel Thompson, Chairman Dr. John M. Harry, Vice-Chairman Mr. C. Reid Ross, Secretary Mr. Allie Atkinson Mr. Herman L. Bishop Mr. Luther B. Black :mu system. This policy-making body is the deciding factor in the approval of curricula, the employment of more personnel, and the selection of new school sites for Fayettevilleis constantly expanding educational program.
