Superintendent C. Reid Ross Meads City Schools Mr. Ross dictates memo to his secretary, Mrs. Breeden. In every town there is one person who has the responsibility of keeping the educational engines running smoothly. In Fayette- ville the Superintendent of Schools is Mr. C. Reid Ross. Mr. Ross received his A.B. and M.A. degrees from the University of North Carolina. He began his career as a teacher and a principal in Lenoir County and later held the office of Superintendent in Harnett County. This was just prior to coming to Fayetteville where he has served very capably in his capacity as Superintendent since July of 1951. Aside from being a fine administrator, Mr. Ross is a loyal Bulldog fan. Every Friday night he may be seen cheering the local athletes for he has missed only one football game during his 13 years in Fayetteville with the exception of last fall when he was representing Fayetteville at an educators’ meeting in Chicago. As an administrator, a former teacher, one interested in educa- tion and young people, and a loyal Bulldog supporter, Mr. Ross truly sets a fine example for those who would acquire the true “Spirit of F.H.S.”
