'M f' QW: swmgf it ' vQ..'.g -f L Four new courses in mathematics have been added to this yearls curriculum. The first of these, Basic Math, is concerned with assisting the student to a degree of competence which will benefit him in problems of everyday affairs. Business Arithmetic is a higher degree of basic math which will assist the student in later life, especially in handling the business affairs of himself and those in the business office. For the college minded student who aspires to have a good background for college two other courses have been added: Algebra Ill, and Advanced Senior Math. These both deal in advanced algebra and the introduction to set theory and group theory.

Mrs. Virginia Pennington Autry, Geometry teacher, graduated with an A.B. de- gree from Maryville College, Maryville, Tenn. She is spon- sor for the Junior-Senior prom. The Mathematics Department includes courses in Basic Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Business Arithme- tic and Advanced Senior Math. These subjects are designed to increase the student's understanding of mathematical V terms and his ability to compute various math problems.
