For the student who intends to pursue the study of foreign languages in later life, the language department of FHS has complete courses in two modern foreign lan- guages and Latin. Students learn a practical working vocabulary. pronunciation, sen- tence structure. and the history of that country or countries in which that language originated. N N-. Y I 14 M ' -4,4 ld Our Music Department includes The Girls, Clee Club. the Mixed Chorus. Orchestra, Music Theory. and Band I, ll, and III. The vocal music courses include instruction in breath control, tone placement, voice classification. diction, vocal techniques, note reading. scales, intervals, and rhythm, while instrumental music instruction courses include technical material to enable the student to advance his performance level. Practice is held during school hours and many times out of school for performances given throughout the year. Mr. Forrest T. Ray, Clee Club and Chorus director, graduated from Westminster Clmir College with a B.M. degree. Mr. William Francis Adcox, instructor of Instrumen- tal Music, graduated from UNC with A.B. and M.E. degrees. He sponsors all band activities.
